It’s situated at Tangasseri,Kollam city. It’s one of the two lighthouses in the Kollam Metropolitan Area and is maintained by the Chennai Directorate General of Lighthouses and Lightships. It operated since 1902 and is the oldest lighthouse in the state of Kerala. Has a height of 41m(135ft).
Recently, the lighthouse was installed with an elevator facility for its visitors. Tangasseri is known for its Anglo-Indian culture. This place has schools,churches,breakwater,etc. The well known British Fort is also situated at Tangasseri. The fort is conserved under Archaeology Surey of India(ASI).
