Clappana

Located five km from Vallikkavu, Clappana is famous for its historically important church which was constructed in the year 1840 by the Portuguese. Sea erosion during certain period forced them to shift the altar ( Althara) to a new Church – St. George Church. The pillar of the Church had been built in Olivewood, which was brought to the shore by the tidal waves. The place has a rich vegetation of mangroves as well as thriving coir industry
