It was once an ancient trading port. <strong>Kannur <\/strong>is also&nbsp;<strong>known<\/strong>&nbsp;as Cannanore. It is&nbsp;<strong>known<\/strong>&nbsp;as Land of Looms and Lores.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enduring monuments such as 16th-century <strong>St. Angelo Fort<\/strong>, once occupied by European colonial forces, show the city\u2019s significant role in the spice trade. Housed in a former palace, the <strong>Arakkal Museum<\/strong> highlights Kerala&#8217;s one Muslim royal family. The palm-fringed sands of Payyambalam Beach run along Kannur\u2019s western shore..<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muzhappilangad_Beach\"><strong>Muzhappilangad Beach<\/strong><\/a>&nbsp;is popular for driving because of its hard surface. There is continuous stretch of five kilometers <strong>suitable for driving cars and motorbikes<\/strong>. The beach is located on the national highway to Thalassery.
